‘My Wife’ on Radio 4

An anthem I was commissioned to compose for a wedding has been performed live on BBC Radio 4's, Sunday Worship. Performed by the choir of St. Luke's as part of their Valentines service, under the choral direction of Justin Butcher. The anthem is a setting of R.L. Stephenson's wonderful text of the same title:

Trusty, dusky, vivid, true,
With eyes of gold and bramble-dew,
Steel-true and blade-straight,
The great artificer
Made my mate.

Honour, anger, valour, fire;
A love that life could never tire,
Death quench or evil stir,
The mighty master
Gave to her.

Teacher, tender, comrade, wife,
A fellow-farer true through life,
Heart-whole and soul-free
The august father
Gave to me.

You can hear it online on bbc iplayer for the next month here - 20.20 into the service. For sheet music please contact me directly.

The Documentary – Isolation

First released in September 2013, this radio documentary explores the effects of isolation and confinement in a tiny community in the Antarctic. Anahi Aradas speaks to former astronauts in the US and visits a Swedish prison, where inmates are encouraged to practise yoga to help them cope. This documentary is still available on iplayer. The score was a collaboration between me and Eliza Thompson.
